The tallest structure of the two-tower Riverwalk project in Center City West has topped out its concrete structure recently. Developed by PMC Property Group, the structure features an appealing mixture of metal and glass cladding, and the building makes a notable contribution to the Philadelphia skyline. The 380-unit tower is currently topped out at the 32nd floor, and will soon reach its final height of 362 feet. The complex were designed by , which has also designed local buildings such as 2222 Market Street.

In the April update, the structure had risen just past the halfway point. The core and floor plates were rapidly being poured, and the pinnacle of the south tower was nearing the top of the north tower. The first pieces of cladding had already been installed, and concrete work was moving at a faster pace after a slowdown in the winter. By the June update, the building saw its core topped out.

During the past week, construction crews have erected the final floor slab. The south tower easily eclipses its north counterpart from south-looking views while most of the exterior is still glass-free. Two floors beneath the roof level, a major terrace is located on the north side of the angled structure, which will allow residents to look over the north tower and look over sights such as Fairmont Park and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In the near future, we expect to see steel erected at the rooftop, reaching the tower’s final height.

  1. A topping out is official when the final steel beam is placed, bolted and set in position, completing the shape of the building.

This is not just my opinion, but an established fact.
You can read up on this fascinating subject on Wikipedia if you like.

  2. Thanks for showing the renderings of both buildings as I was wondering when they were going to cover the holes in the shorter tower! Now I understand
