Permits Issued for 24-Story Tower at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties

Permits have been issued for the construction of a massive high-rise tower located at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties on the Delaware River waterfront. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by The Durst Organization, the tower will rise 316 feet and 24 stories tall, and will hold 345,301 square feet of interior space. The ground floor will feature commercial space, while the upper portion of the structure will house 360 apartments. A garage situated within the building will offer parking to building residents. The development will also include the construction of a new park next door. The project is expected to cost $131.8 million to build.

A Detailed Look at the 27-Story Tower Planned at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties

After years of dormancy and inaction, numerous developments along the Delaware River waterfront are finally having their permits issued, which puts them on direct track toward construction. One of the most exciting among these is the project planned at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by The Durst Organization, the project will feature a 27-story, 360-unit tower rising next to a brand new public space. A construction permit was issued for the project in November of last year, and another, more comprehensive one, was issued in August of this year. Earlier this month, a YIMBY site visit observed a large amount of recently-placed material and equipment at the site, although it is not certain whether it is intended for the building’s construction. Today we take a closer look at the building’s design its future contribution both to the neighborhood and to the skyline at large.

Activity Spotted at Site of 27-Story Rental Tower Planned at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties

Philly YIMBY’s recent visit to 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard, the site of a planned 27-story, 360-unit rental high-rise, revealed new, if inconclusive, activity at the surface lot, although no direct signs of ongoing excavation have yet been spotted. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by The Durst Organization, the development will consist of a 316-foot-tall tower with 10,094 square feet of ground-level retail, sited next to a new public park, which is also part of the development. The project is located on the Delaware River waterfront a block to the north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, on the border between Northern Liberties to the north and Old City to the south.

Delaware River Trail Underway Near Penn’s Landing Redevelopment in Center City

The Delaware River Trail that sits just next to the site of the recently proposed Penn’s Landing redevelopment is underway in between the public space and the Interstate 95. The project is a part the Master Plan for the Central Delaware, which will extend and enhance the waterfront. Developed by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, the project will feature open space extending for six miles along the Delaware River from Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia to East Allegheny Avenue in Kensington, with the trail divided into four zones. The public space will feature new vegetation and planting, bi-directional bicycle lanes, solar lighting, and improved public access to the trail.

New Renderings Released for 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Northern Liberties

New renderings have been released for 300 North Columbus Boulevard via a Civic Design Review submission, giving an updated look at the high-rise that will stand just to the north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The structure will rise 28 stories and 316 feet tall, and will be located on the north side of the Old City neighborhood, near the boundary of Center City and Northern Liberties to the north, where several projects underway and many proposals have been revealed. The building was designed by Handel Architects, which had also designed the 805-foot Madison House at 15 East 30th Street in New York City. The project is being developed by The Durst Organization, which is also developing the massive Penn’s Landing Redevelopment just to the south of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
