The new building will replace a vacant and two ornate prewar rowhouses situated on the northeast side of the block between Hadfield Street and Willows Avenue, extending to Willows Avenue. Designed by Studio C Architecture, the development will span 25,019 square feet and feature two ground-floor commercial spaces, an elevator, a roof deck, a green roof, and parking for eight bicycles. Permits list Uliz Construction as the contractor and indicate a construction cost of $4 million.

The development is proposed on the western corner of the intersection of Woodland Avenue and South 71st Street. Designed by Mass Architecture Studio, the building will span 34,285 square feet, of which around 14,200 square feet will be used for business and medical office space. Project features will include a green roof, as well as parking for nine cars and ten bicycles. Permits list Andrew Ferguson as the contractor and indicate a construction cost of $3.5 million.

Permits have been issued for a new multi-family development at 5303 Chester Avenue in Kingsessing, West Philadelphia. Designed by Lo Design Co., the new building will rise three stories tall. There will be nine residential units within the structure, each expected to be an apartment. In total, there will be 6,847 square feet of space within the building. Construction costs are listed at $1,027,050 to build.

YIMBY Observes the Rising Philadelphia Skyline from the Girard Point Bridge

Philadelphia YIMBY has been covering the rise of the Philadelphia skyline over a year now. Today we observe the skyline from the Girard Point Bridge, which connects South Philadelphia with Southwest Philadelphia. The bridge had started construction in 1968 and was completed in 1973, just after the completion of One Meridian Plaza and while Centre Square was on the rise. The bridge, which is a double-decker cantilevered truss structure, was repainted in 2011, as it was previously coated in a fading green color. The bridge runs over the mouth of the Schuylkill River, just to the west of the Navy Yard.

Permits have been issued for the construction of an Amazon warehouse facility at 6901 Elmwood Avenue in Elmwood Park, Southwest Philadelphia. Once completed, the new building will rise one story tall. Office space and truck loading docks will also be included with the building. The warehouse will hold 141,360 square feet of space, with construction costs estimated at $30 million.

Work is rapidly progressing on a 65-unit mixed-use development situated at 5013 Springfield Avenue in Kingsessing, Southwest Philadelphia. Designed by Ambit Architecture and developed by the Metropolitan Group, the building rises five stories tall with a commercial space on the ground floor, with residential units above. A fresh food market is slated for the retail space.
