The construction elevator that was attached to the west facade has been completely removed off Arthaus, a skyscraper under construction at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Philadelphia-based Dranoff Properties, the tower stands 542 feet and 47 stories above ground. Once completed, the building will offer 108 condominium units along with underground parking and retail on the ground floor.

The skyscraper has made incredible progress throughout this year. In January, the upper crown floors were under construction, and the building had topped out its core in February. The structure above the roof was assembled by April and all of the concrete forms were taken off. Steel erection for the parapet was underway later in the month and the steel had wrapped around the top completely by June. The tower crane that was attached to the building was taken down in July, and the facade work was up above each terrace as the top had finished in the next few months.

In the previous update, the construction elevator was starting to come down from the building, and now the temporary structure is entirely gone. The row that was once filled with wooden panels is mostly open to the outside as the facade is waiting to be installed, with some floors clad just under the highest terrace. The amenity deck is very far along in construction, and the facade is also nearly complete at the four-story podium supporting the tower structure.

The facade could be complete by Spring, and the first occupants are expected to move into the skyscraper in May 2022.

It never ceases to amaze me that as tall as this tower is; its not even half the height of the Comcast Tech Tower

  2. The start of warming up the building by cladding the void left by outdoor elevators. Interior work will create liveable units.

  3. Looks great as you look straight up Broad Street from South Philly.

  4. I truly hope this has a light scheme, like a warm, off white color similar to the bank of America tower in dallas around the outline of the building.

  5. It’s unfortunate this project was developed without the hotel component and even more unfortunate that the next project at Broad and Pine was shrunk down as much at it was…..should be taller on broad!

  6. It’s a wonderful skyscraper and a great addition to our Center city.
