A rendering has been released for Broad Street Flats, a seven-story, mixed-use building at 701 South Broad Street at the southeast corner of South Broad Street and Bainbridge Street in Hawthorne, South Philadelphia. The plans call for a retail space on the ground floor and 50 residential units above. An additional four “hotel-rooms” will be included for the project, likely apartments aimed towards short-term rentals. The building will sit on a lot that measures around 9,000 square feet. Hightop Broad Acquisition is the listed owner.
At 1001 South Broad Street, at the corner of Washington Avenue and South Broad Street in Hawthorne, South Philadelphia, a massive 4.4-acre lot has long remained empty, awaiting development as several proposals have been revealed on the site. The new project, designed by Cope Linder Architects, will soon rise to a height of 426 feet and feature 1,800,000 square feet of residential and retail space. Though the most recent design was unveiled in 2016, not a single shovelful of earth has yet been moved for construction.
Zoning permits have been filed for 1136 Carpenter Street in the Hawthorne neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Located near the corner of 12th and Carpenter Street, the new building will be an attached structure adjacent to the neighboring building to the east. The new building will also sit within a little over 10 minutes of a walking distance from the iconic Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks.
