Last week, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has unveiled two new high-rise proposals, one at (tentatively) 3401 Civic Center Boulevard in University City in West Philadelphia, and another across the river at 690 Schuylkill Avenue in Schuylkill, South Philadelphia.
Façade work is wrapping up at Wharton Flats, a four-story, mixed-use project under construction at 1283 South 9th Street in Passyunk Square, South Philadelphia. Developed by Hightop Real Estate and Development, the project consists of 21 apartments, three townhomes, and a 5,400-square-foot commercial space. The building gained approval in June 2018, and construction began shortly after. The building stands across the street from Pat’s King of Steaks and down the block from Geno’s Steaks, two of Philadelphia’s most iconic cheesesteak restaurants.
Permits have been issued for the construction of The Trinity, a four-story, seven-unit multi-family structure at 1621-23 Bainbridge Street in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia. Designed by Gnome Architects and developed by Zatos Investments, the 9,754-square-foot building will hold multiple balconies and roof decks and will cost an estimated $970,000 to build.
Construction work has finally wrapped up at the Live! Casino and Hotel at 900 Packer Avenue in the Sports Complex District in South Philadelphia. Designed by Bower Lewis Thower Architects and developed by The Cordish Companies and Greenwood Racing and Entertainment, the 1.5-million-square-foot development consists of a massive, three-story casino structure with a curved stone exterior, joined with a 215-foot-tall, 14-story, 215-room hotel tower with a dark glass façade and an angled top.
Permits have been issued for the construction of a multi-family structure at 2807-09 South 11th Street in South Philadelphia. The development will stand four stories tall and hold six residential apartments. The 6,588-square-foot development will include parking space and a roof deck and will cost a projected $900,000 to build.
