In September 2020, YIMBY reported that permits had been filed for a three-story single-family rowhouse at 2545 North Howard Street in West Kensington. Since that time, construction has been completed on the four-bedroom, three-bathroom project, and today we look at the end result. The structure replaces a vacant lot on the east side of the block between West Cumberland and West Huntingdon streets. According to permits, the building spans 2,000 square feet (though real estate listings list the property at 2,520 square feet, a figure that likely also includes the basement) and features a roof deck. Permit documents list Paul Dietz III as the architect and Gezim Kupa as the contractor.

Designed by RKM Architects, the building spans 3,105 square feet (as per the permit) and features three bedrooms, five bathrooms, a basement, and a roof deck. Since then, construction has been completed on the development. The structure replaces a vacant lot on the south side of the block between North Howard and North Mascher streets. Designed by Plato Marinakos of Plato Studio, the building spans 3,267 square feet and features a roof deck. Permits list V2 Properties as the contractor.

YIMBY Shares Interior Renderings for UPenn’s Amy Gutmann Hall in University City, West Philadelphia

Last month, Philly YIMBY reported that a permit had been issued for the University of Pennsylvania’s Amy Gutmann Hall at 3317-23 Chestnut Street in University CityWest Philadelphia. Designed by Lake Flato Architects, with KSS Architects as the architect of record and Ground Control Collaborative as landscape designer, the building will rise six stories and span 115,954 square feet, and will feature classrooms, collaborative spaces for student projects, and a data science hub. While our previous reports on Amy Gutmann Hall focused on its exterior appearance, today we offer a glimpse into the interior of the proposed facility, and share several site plans not seen on YIMBY previously.

A Look at the Lobby of the Comcast Technology Center, Philadelphia’s Tallest Building

The Comcast Technology Center at 1800 Arch Street in Center City is both the tallest building and one of the largest structures in Philadelphia, standing 1,121 feet tall and spanning over 1.5 million square feet of interior space. Completed in 2017, the supertall stands 60 stories high and features office space on its lower floors and a hotel on its upper levels, with an observation deck at the top. The project was developed by Liberty Property Trust and designed by Foster and Partners, with Thornton Tomasetti behind the structural design and LF Driscoll as the contractor. Gensler crafted the exquisite and sometimes bizarre interior of the main lobby, with an architectural style well-suited for the modern workforce and the general public alike.
