Cladding Rises Neatly Halfway at One Cathedral Square at 1701 Race Street in Logan Square, Center City

Philadelphia YIMBY readers may have noticed an increase in recent coverage of One Cathedral Square, a 244-foot-tall, 23-story condominium that currently stands nearly topped out at 1701 Race Street in Logan Square, Center City. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Exeter Property Group and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, with Hunter Roberts Construction Group as the contractor, the building will span 251,779 square feet of interior space and feature 273 condo residences, as well as ground-level retail space and landscaping, and incur a construction cost of $86 million. YIMBY ranked the structure at the 30th place on our December 2021 Development Countdown at the start of this month, and followed up with a report showing the building in greater detail two weeks later. With the month (and the year) wrapping to a close, we yet again have more progress to share, as, since the last update, the tower has added its prominent top floor as well as more glass on the exterior.

Cladding installation has begun on the first high-rise of the two-tower Cathedral Square development in Logan Square, Center City. Cathedral Square Phase One is located at 222 North 17th Street, just to the east of Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul. Designed by Solomon Cornwell Buenz and developed by the Exeter Development Group, the residential tower will rise to a height of 245 feet and 23 stories.

Cathedral Square Phase One Takes Shape at 222 North 17th Street in Logan Square, Center City

The first phase of the Cathedral Square development is underway and rising at 222 North 17th Street in Logan Square, Center City. The building, at this time known as Cathedral Square Phase 1, will rise 245 feet and 23 stories tall. The tower is designed by Solomon Cornwell Buenz, which had also designed the Murano condominium and The Laurel Rittenhouse, which is currently under construction. The two-tower complex is being developed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Exeter Property Group, which will span much of the city block that is situated three blocks to the north of the Comcast Center.

Cathedral Square Phase One Rises Above Ground At 222 North 17th Street In Logan Square, Center City

A portion of the ground floor has been constructed at Cathedral Square Phase 1 at 222 North 17th Street in Logan Square, Center City. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Exeter Property Group, the reinforced concrete building will stand 245 feet and 23 stories tall and will be visible from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with an all-glass skin that angles in and out. The tower will be a part of the Cathedral Square development (formerly known as Cathedral Place), which also includes Cathedral Square Phase 2, a massive tower proposed to the north. The building’s crane is one of over a dozen tower cranes currently stand in multiple locations in Philadelphia, with most located in Center City.

Tower Crane Constructed At Cathedral Place Phase One In Center City

April Showers bring May towers. Another week, another crane. This time, a tower crane has been observed at the site of Cathedral Place Phase 1 a 245-oot-tall, 23-story high-rise under construction at 222 North 17th Street in Logan SquareCenter City. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, the structure will offer a total of 265,849 square feet of space, with 273 residential units, 3,000 square feet of retail, and 18 parking spaces.
