A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has revealed that construction is well underway at a nine-story parking garage for the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 3800 Powelton Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed and engineered by Pennoni and THA Consulting, the massive structure will span 481,702 square feet and offer parking for 1,483 cars and 129 bicycles, as well as ground-level commercial space. Permits list HSC Builders & Construction as the contractor and a construction cost of $46.4 million.

Construction Still Pending at 4145 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia

A recent site visit has revealed that construction has not yet started at a 136-unit mixed-use building at 4145 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Coscia Moos Architecture, the 152,230-square-foot building will rise seven stories tall and will feature commercial space on the ground floor and a roof deck at the top. Construction costs are specified at $14.6 million.

Philly YIMBY has recently visited the construction site of a multi-family building at 4211-13 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia. The new building will stand seven stories tall and will house 100 residential units, each an apartment. A roof deck will be located at the top of the build and will be accessed through a pilot house. In total, there will be 68,210 square feet of space within structure, which will cost an estimated $4 million to build.

Renderings Revealed for The Mark at 3615 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia

Renderings have been revealed for a massive new multi-family development called The Mark, located at 3615 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia. Upon completion, the building will officially stand 34 stories tall, though a mechanical penthouse at the top will stretch the height higher, to just over 400 feet tall, a very sizable addition to this location. Designed by BKV Group and developed by Landmark Properties, the tower will hold 363 residential units, with 236 standard units and 127 group living units. Accessed from Ludlow Street, the development will hold space for 70 cars and 96 bicycles.

A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has discovered no significant signs of new construction at the 513-foot-tall, 34-story tower proposed at 3001 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Practice for Architecture and Urbanism and developed by Brandywine Realty Trust and Drexel University, the red-clad high-rise will be the latest addition to the $3.5-billion, multi-building Schuylkill Yards development currently in progress in University City, adjacent to the Drexel campus. The tower at 3001 JFK Boulevard will feature 930,000 square feet of floor space, mostly office with 6,600 square feet allocated to retail, and will aim for LEED Silver certification.

Construction Nearly Complete at One uCity Square in University City, West Philadelphia

A recent site visit haas revealed that construction is nearly complete at One uCity Square, a mixed-use building in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by ZGF Architects and developed by Wexford Science & Technology, the University City Science Center, and Ventas Inc., with Turner Construction as the contractor, the $280-million, 13-story building will hold 389,000 square feet of office, laboratory, and retail space. The 250-foot-tall structure, also known as Wexford One uCity Square, is part of the greater mixed-use uCity Square development, which will feature 10.5 million square feet within 15 existing and 10 newly-constructed buildings. New construction will account for three-quarters of the total square footage.

Site Prep Starts at CHOP New Patient Tower in University City, West Philadelphia

A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has revealed an apparent start of construction, or at least some form of construction prep, at the future site of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia‘s 434-foot-tall, 26-story New Patient Tower (aka Inpatient Tower) at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard (alternately 515 Osler Circle) in the Medical District in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Ballinger, with ZGF Architects as the consultant and interiors/clinical architects, the 1.4 million-square-foot facility will provide around 480 patient beds and a variety of medical services. The project’s $1.9 billion cost comprises a major portion of CHOP’s $3.4 billion ongoing development plan.

Construction Approaches Halfway Point at 3025 JFK Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia

A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has revealed that concrete assembly is nearly at the halfway point at 3025 JFK Boulevard, a 361-foot-tall, 28-story mixed-use tower at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard at University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism and developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, with Hunter Roberts Construction Group as the contractor, the building, also known as Schuylkill Yards West, will span 559,583 square feet, with commercial and laboratory space on the lower floors with 326 residential floors situated above. The building is the first major high-rise to be built as part of the 14-acre Schuylkill Yards megadevelopment. Construction at 3025 JFK Boulevard is expected to cost $180 million.

YIMBY Shares Interior Renderings for UPenn’s Amy Gutmann Hall in University City, West Philadelphia

Last month, Philly YIMBY reported that a permit had been issued for the University of Pennsylvania’s Amy Gutmann Hall at 3317-23 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Lake Flato Architects, with KSS Architects as the architect of record and Ground Control Collaborative as landscape designer, the building will rise six stories and span 115,954 square feet, and will feature classrooms, collaborative spaces for student projects, and a data science hub. While our previous reports on Amy Gutmann Hall focused on its exterior appearance, today we offer a glimpse into the interior of the proposed facility, and share several site plans not seen on YIMBY previously.

YIMBY Reviews Site and Landscape Plans for 3201 Cuthbert Street in University City, West Philadelphia

Last month, Philly YIMBY shared a packet of new renderings for Drexel University’s 12-story, half-million-square-foot mixed-use building proposed at 3201 Cuthbert Street (alternately 3200 Arch Street) in University City, West Philadelphia, followed up by an analysis of its architecture. Today we share details of the project’s site and landscape planning. The 252-foot-tall structure (measuring from Cuthbert Street) will house 423,450 square feet of office and life sciences laboratory space, 12,365 square feet of retail on the lower two floors, 141 parking spaces in an underground garage spanning 56,802 square feet, and 12,887 square feet of accessory areas. The project team consists of Drexel University as the owner, Gattuso Development Partners (GDP) as the developer, and Robert A.M. Stern Architects (aka RAMSA) and Kendall Heaton Associates as the architects; the team also includes the firms Thornton Tomasetti, Burohappold Engineering, James Corner Field Operations, Perroni, and West 8.
