Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit revealed that construction is wrapping up at a three-story single-family rowhouse at 1537 South Bambrey Street in Grays Ferry, South Philadelphia. The structure rises on the east side of the block between Dickinson and Tasker streets, spanning a footprint of 518 square feet. The structure’s prominence above its predominantly two-story neighbors means that its roof deck offers relatively open views of the skylines of Center City and University City. Permits list Standard Development LLC as the owner, Maher Abdelaal as the design professional, and Clifford Lasky of BFR Construction LLC as the contractor. The total construction cost is listed at $241,000, with $212 for general construction, $12,000 for plumbing work, $9,000 for mechanical work, and $8,000 for electrical work.

The 16th Place on Philly YIMBY’s December Countdown Goes to 350-Foot-Tall Tower Proposed at 730 Schuylkill Avenue in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia

The 16th place on Philly YIMBY’s December 2021 Development Countdown is the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia‘s Roberts Center For Pediatric Research Phase 3, a 350-foot-tall, 21-story tower planned at 730 Schuylkill Avenue in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia. The building is a part of the CHOP’s four-tower master plan in Graduate Hospital, in the sub-section of the neighborhood also know as the Schuylkill section of Grays Ferry. The site sits directly to the southwest of the 375-foot-tall CHOP Roberts Center for Pediatric Research at 734 Schuylkill Avenue, which was built in 2017. Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, the architect for Phase 1, will likely to be the designer for the new tower, although, given the lack of progress at the site, it is possible that a different architect and/or design will be introduced in the future.
