The 4th place on Philly YIMBY’s December 2021 Development Countdown goes to Arthaus, a 542-foot-tall, 47-story condominium high-rise under construction at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, with INTECH Construction as the contractor, the tower will offer 108 condo units, serviced by an extensive amenity package, as well as ground-level retail and underground parking.

The construction elevator that was attached to the west facade has been completely removed off Arthaus, a skyscraper under construction at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Philadelphia-based Dranoff Properties, the tower stands 542 feet and 47 stories above ground. Once completed, the building will offer 108 condominium units along with underground parking and retail on the ground floor.

Construction Elevator Being Removed at Arthaus in Washington Square West, Center City

The exterior construction elevator is currently being removed at Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Earlier this year the tower reached its full height of 542 feet and 47 stories. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, the development will offer 108 condominium units and retail space. Construction is nearing completion and the building has already become a prominent addition to the skyline.

YIMBY Observes the Arthaus, The Laurel Rittenhouse, and the Rising Philadelphia Skyline from the Walt Whitman Bridge

A few months ago, during the beginning of spring, Philadelphia YIMBY published a feature that looked at major developments in Center City from the Walt Whitman Bridge. This 378-foot-tall, green-painted suspension bridge was completed in 1957, and has since transported millions of people between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The bridge span rises 153 feet above the Delaware River, and offers a fantastic view of the skyline to the northwest. The western side connects to the sports complex in South Philadelphia, while the east side joins Gloucester City, NJ. In this new feature, Philadelphia YIMBY presents an updated look at several major developments in the skyline as seen from the bridge.

The Arthaus condominium at 311 South Broad Street is starting to resemble its renderings as the skyscraper’s exterior moves toward completion. The 108-unit high-rise stands 542 feet and 47 stories high, towering over the Washington Square West neighborhood in Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the building features bright cladding highlighted by the white metal mullions. The developer, Dranoff Properties, has produced numerous properties around the city, which include the Symphony House across the street.

The Number 28 Spot on Philly YIMBY’s First Anniversary Countdown Goes to Washington Square West

Philadelphia YIMBY’s ongoing countdown, which looks at the 31 most frequently listed article categories over the course of the past year in honor of our first anniversary, finds Washington Square West in the 28th place, with at least 29 publications mentioning the neighborhood in its tags. Much like Rittenhouse Square, which we recently covered in the countdown, this Center City neighborhood is already well-established and densely built out. As such, instead of a pronounced development boom, it owes its high ranking to our consistent coverage of a handful of notable developments, particularly Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street. Although we have also covered several minor projects in the area, today we are taking a look at some of the most dramatic developments that will alter the local skyline.

Arthaus is a 542-foot-tll condominium under construction at 311 South Broad Street in Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, the tower rises 47 stories and will include 108 residential units, with leasing currently underway. Over the past year, Philadelphia YIMBY has showcased the skyline on a constant basis, which has seen nearly a decade of constant construction. A number of projects have spawned all around the city, producing massive growth. Center City of course receives the most developments, as it is the busiest neighborhood. Other nearby neighborhoods are also joining in on the growth, such as University City. In this feature, Philadelphia YIMBY compares sections of the Philadelphia skyline via photographs taken this and last year.

YIMBY Observes the Rising Philadelphia Skyline from the Girard Point Bridge

Philadelphia YIMBY has been covering the rise of the Philadelphia skyline over a year now. Today we observe the skyline from the Girard Point Bridge, which connects South Philadelphia with Southwest Philadelphia. The bridge had started construction in 1968 and was completed in 1973, just after the completion of One Meridian Plaza and while Centre Square was on the rise. The bridge, which is a double-decker cantilevered truss structure, was repainted in 2011, as it was previously coated in a fading green color. The bridge runs over the mouth of the Schuylkill River, just to the west of the Navy Yard.

The large crane that was attached to the south side of Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street in Center City has been removed from the structure. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, the 47-story tower stands 542 feet high and will have 108 condominium units, with leasing already underway. The tower has grown into the skyline over the past year and is looking close to completion.
