The steel structure has topped out at One uCity Square at 3401 Market Street, located in the heart of the uCity Square mega-project in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by ZGF Architects and developed by Ventas Inc., the building, which now rises to its final height of 250 feet and 13 stories, is notable for its Jenga-like massing at its southeast corner.

Concrete Work Nearly Finished at The Laurel Rittenhouse in Rittenhouse Square, Center City

Concrete work has been largely completed at The Laurel Rittenhouse, a luxury residential tower under construction at 1911 Walnut Street just to the north of Rittenhouse Square Park in Rittenhouse Square, Center City. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Southern Land Company, with the Harman Group as the structural engineer and the Hunter Roberts Construction Group as the contractor, the skyscraper rises to an impressive height of 599 feet and 48 stories (with two additional mechanical floors). The building will house 185 rental units along with 60 condominiums.

Construction Elevator Being Removed at Arthaus in Washington Square West, Center City

The exterior construction elevator is currently being removed at Arthaus at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Earlier this year the tower reached its full height of 542 feet and 47 stories. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Dranoff Properties, the development will offer 108 condominium units and retail space. Construction is nearing completion and the building has already become a prominent addition to the skyline.

Retail Space Opens at W/Element Hotel at 1439 Chestnut Street in Center City

The dual-branded W/Element Hotel, located at 1439 Chestnut Street in Center City, has opened its final section to the public with the completion of its retail portion. Designed by Cope-Linder Architects and developed by the Chestlen Development Group, the tower rises 617 feet and 52 stories above ground, and stands at the former site of One Meridian Plaza, a block to the south of City Hall. Tutor Perini is the general contractor and The Lighting Practice is the lighting designer and contractor for the tower’s elaborate nighttime illumination. The skyscraper has an enormous impact on the skyline, more so than just about any other building completed in the past couple of years.

Cladding Underway at 2222 Market Street in Center City West

The structural frame continues to rise and cladding installation has started at 2222 Market Street in Center City West. The building will stand 318 feet and 20 stories high, and provide a significant amount of office space as it will take up nearly the entire block. The structure was designed by Gensler and developed by Parkway Commercial Properties, which previously owned the parking lot that had spanned the tower’s entire future footprint.
