New Renderings Revealed for Broad and Lombard in Rittenhouse Square, Center City

The Virgin Hotels proposal at 500 South Broad Street in Rittenhouse Square, Center City, has been revamped with a new design. Designed by SITIO Architects + Urbanism and developed by The Badger Group and Goldenberg Group LLC, the 468-unit development now known as Broad and Lombard will now boast a tower that will stand 542 feet (alternately pictured at 573 feet) and 43 stories tall. The project involves a renovation of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health Building, with work helmed by Voith and MacTavish Architects. The new tower will echo the design of the Public Health Building and will stand tall in the Philadelphia skyline.

Crane Disassembly Underway at The Laurel Rittenhouse in Rittenhouse Square, Center City

The construction crane is currently being dismantled at The Laurel Rittenhouse. The skyscraper, located at 1911 Walnut Street in Rittenhouse Square, Center City, stands 604 feet and 48 floors tall. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Southern Land Company, the project features 185 rental units and 64 condominiums, along with amenity space and retail. According to the developer, the tower is already 50 percent sold out.

Tower Crane Erected At 1620 Sansom Street In Rittenhouse Square, Center City

Center City continues to grow upward as multiple projects are changing Philadelphia’s core neighborhood. In Rittenhouse Square, a tower crane was recently erected at 1620 Sansom Street, where a high-rise residential tower is under construction. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by Southern Land Company, the building will rise 315 feet and 28 stories high. The tower will also feature 306 rental units and retail space on the ground floor.

Excavation Nearly Complete at 1620 Sansom Street in Rittenhouse Square, Center City

Construction looks ready to begin at the foundation of the 315-foot-tall, 28-story tower planned at 1620 Sansom Street, where excavation work will soon be complete. The residential tower will rise in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Center City, three blocks to the south of Liberty Place. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, which has designed The Laurel Rittenhouse and The Murano, and developed by Southern Land Company, which is also behind The Laurel, the project will consist of retail and residential space, with 306 units to be located inside the skyscraper.
