Construction Finishes at The Chestnut at 3720 Chestnut Street, University City

Over the past few years, University City has ushered a pretty long list of new and proposed 300-foot-plus residential towers. Another such tower now joins the “completed” list as The Chestnut at 3720 Chestnut Street, boasting a full height of 344 feet, has recently opened its 420 apartments. The new tower, designed by SITIO Inc and developed by EGP Urban Multifamily, has brought 427,100 square feet to University City.

Penn Medicine To Soon Wrap Up Construction On Pavilion at 300 South 33rd Street in University City

Over the pat three years, a massive structure has risen at 300 South 33rd Street, making a impact on the hospital district in University City. The 17-story Pavilion rises to a height of 343 feet with 500 rooms added to Penn Medicine. The 1.5 million-square-foot building has a similar square footage and same architect (Foster and Partners) as the tallest skyscraper in Philadelphia, the Comcast Technology Center.

3151 Market Brings New Hues To Schuylkill Views, University City

It’s no secret that Schuylkill Yards is bound to change the University City skyline, but what is kept secret is the development at Schuylkill Yards until they’re revealed. The mega development was unveiled at the beginning of summer 2016 with out-of-this-world proposals, but it turns out they were all placeholders, since 3001 and 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard were officially unveiled last year. Fast forward to 2020, and 3151 Market Street has also been formally revealed, and it will stand 185 feet tall.

Another Schuylkill Yards Building Proposed At 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City

The Schuylkill Yards development is on the verge of breaking into the University City skyline in West Philadelphia. Permits for a new 361-foot, 28-story, mixed-use office and residential tower at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard were approved in early December 2019. The tower is one of many slated for the 14 acres of land just to the northwest of FMC Tower. A new park, Drexel Square, was completed last year just east of the Bulletin Building.

Now, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has extended its space across many acres of University City in West Philadelphia. With many towers complete in the past recent years, another building has already started construction at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard, which will eventually rise 377 feet.
