In the 1960s, Philadelphia observed a rise in development with ample space available for new buildings in Center City. The William Penn statue at the pinnacle of City Hall still topped the Philadelphia skyline with a height of 548 feet, though it was surrounded by high-rises that stood nearly as tall. Today YIMBY presents massing renderings of the skyline as it appeared in 1965, when a new batch of modern and blocky towers were rising, with still more proposed.

The fence that surrounds the site of the Broad and Noble, a 344-unit project planned at 435-43 North Broad Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia, has received new signage that refers to the Hunter Roberts Construction Group, the building contractor. Designed by Barton Partners and developed by Toll Brothers, the building will rise 231 feet and 19 stories and will feature a brick exterior that sets back from Broad Street. The while the inside will feature along with amenity space, retail, and underground parking.

Renderings Revealed for 120-Unit Building at 1201-09 Vine Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia

Renderings have been revealed for a 120-unit residential development at 1201-09 Vine Street in The Loft District of Callowhill in lower North Philadelphia. Designed by Cadre Design, the project will consist of a renovation of an existing structure on the site, a two-story vertical overbuild above the building, and a separate eight-story addition. The development will provide 111,683 square feet of space and will include 36 mechanical parking spaces.

Permits Issued for a 181-Unit Development at 1306-14 Callowhill Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for the construction of a large residential project at 1306-14 Callowhill Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia. The development will stand seven floors tall and hold 181 residential units upon completion. All of the units will be apartments available for rent. A retail space measuring 3,208 square feet will be located on the ground floor of the structure. Additionally, 51 parking spaces will be included in the development. The 184,679-square-foot structure was designed by Bernardon and will cost an expected $18 million to build.

Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit has observed no construction activity at the future site of Broad and Noble, a high-rise development proposed at 435-43 North Broad Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia. Designed by Barton Partners and developed by Toll Brothers, the project will rise 231 feet and 19 stories and will include 344 apartments within the 371,302 square feet of residential space, as well as 23,647 square feet of amenity space, 46,275 square feet of parking and loading space, 10,574 square feet of retail, 8,351 square feet of office space, and 107 underground parking spaces. The proposal gets its name from its location at the northeast corner of North Broad Street and Noble Street, half a bl0ck away from the entrance of the elevated Rail Park.
