3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard Rises to Amenity Level in University City, West Philadelphia

In University City, West Philadelphia, a new cluster of towers ascends, joining the skyline just to the west of Center City. Of these, the largest development currently underway is just to the west of the 30th Street Station, dubbed Schuylkill Yards. Located at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, the first tower of the 14-acre project (also known as Schuylkill Yards West) is now popping into view from various areas. Designed by the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism and developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, the 326-unit tower will eventually stand at a height of 361 feet and 28 stories and will hold lab and office space on the lower floors and residential units above.

The University City neighborhood in West Philadelphia is growing every year with new projects rising into the skyline. Designed by ZGF Architects and developed by Ventas Inc., the signature tower of One uCity Square at the 14-acre uCity Square development is well underway, as it approaches the final phases of construction. The building, located at 225 North 38th Street, rises to a height of 250 feet and 13 stories. The building makes for a refreshing design for the area, with the glass and metal exterior highlighting the jagged notches on the southeast corner.

The West Philadelphia skyline continues to transform as construction at the high-rise at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard (also known as Schuylkill Yards West) in University Cityis making significant progress. The tower is a part of a 14-acre mega-project dubbed Schuylkill Yards, which features a number of proposed buildings, including a potential supertall. The building is on its way to rising to its full height of 361 feet, with a structure soon comprised of 28 floors. Designed by the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism and developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, the tower will feature 326-units along with office and lab space and a park between the building and Schuylkill Yards East, another high-rise building proposed next door.

The $4 billion Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia expansion is underway at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia, and one of the buildings within the project will soon complete construction. Designed by Perkins + Will, the CHOP Hub for Clinical Collaboration rises just to the south of the CHOP Buerger Center. The building rises 377 feet and 19 floors high.

University Place 3.0 Tops Out in University City, West Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s construction boom of new medical and life-sciences facilities continues unabated, and another milestone has been reached earlier this month. Last week, University Place 3.0, an eight-story commercial and laboratory building under construction at 4101 Market Street in University City, has officially been topped out in an event celebrated with a ceremonial beam-raising and a series of speeches by prominent figures behind the project. Designed by the Sheward Partnership and jointly developed by Silverstein Properties, Cantor Fitzgerald, and University Place Associates, University Place 3.0 will offer 250,000 square feet of state-of-the-art Class A office and lab space, which will provide a significant boost to West Philadelphia’s rapidly-growing medical services industry, as well as ground-level retail space that will liven up the pedestrian experience.
