The property is situated on the northeast side of the block between East Washington Lane and East Duval Street. Designed by KJO Architecture, the building will span 56,140 square feet and will feature elevator service, a partial basement, a courtyard, balconies, parking for 24 bicycles, and a green roof.

Prewar Beaux-Arts School to be Torn Down and Replaced at Lewis C. Cassidy Elementary School at 6523 Lansdowne Avenue in Overbrook, West Philadelphia

A major redevelopment project is in the works at the Lewis C. Cassidy Elementary School at 6523 Lansdowne Avenue in Overbrook, West Philadelphia, spanning an entire city block bound by Lansdowne Avenue to the south, Haddington Lane to the north, Atwood Road to the east, and Kenmore Road to the west. Designed by Ewing Cole, the new school building will rise three stories and span 87,727 square feet, offering space for 570 students in Pre-K through eighth grade. While we admire the contemporary design and the city’s $30-million investment in state-of-the-art educational space, we are concerned with the fact that the project involves a full demolition of a stately prewar school building.

A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has documented construction at a three-story, eight-unit multi-family building at 5007 Pentridge Street in Cedar ParkWest Philadelphia. Designed by Ambit Architecture, the project rises on the north side of the block between South 50th and South 51st streets. The development will span around 6,500 square feet (including cellar space). Permits list Baltimore Select Properties LLC aka Select Redevelopment as the contractor, and a construction cost of $850,000.

Demolition Complete at 1513 West Stiles Street in Cecil B. Moore, Lower North Philadelphia

In November 2020, Philly YIMBY reported that demolition permits have been filed for a three-story prewar rowhouse at 1513 West Stiles Street in Cecil B. Moore, Lower North Philadelphia. The single-family dwelling was situated on the north side of the block between North 15th Street and North 16th Street, just to the southwest of Temple University. A year and a half later, our recent site visit has revealed that the structure has since been torn down.
