Looking At The Future Of Lehigh’s Campus In Bethlehem, PA

In spring of 2021, Singleton, Hitch, and Maida Houses finished construction on the side of South Mountain, the latest of many new developments transforming the Lehigh University Campus in Bethlehem, PA. The development consists of three new residential college houses centered around a small park with outdoor seating and garden space. The development adds 720 beds to the campus, providing accommodations for student residences just steps away from the center of the campus. In recent years, Lehigh has embarked on large transformation development, filling in underused locations at the campus as well as expanding its overall footprint.

Permits Issued for Nine-Unit Building at 106 South 42nd Street in Walnut Hill, West Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for a multi-family addition to an existing building situated at 106 South 42nd Street in Walnut HillWest Philadelphia. The development will involve renovations to the building’s interior as well as an addition to be constructed at the rear of the structure. Nine residential units will be situated in the building. The existing building houses 3,406 square feet of space, and an expected 2,706 square feet of space will be added with the addition to make for a total of 6,112 square feet.  Construction costs are estimated at $526,050.

Conversion Work Underway at The Terrace On 18th Street in Logan Square, Center City

Renovation work continues at the the 27-story hotel-to-residential conversion at Terrace on 18th Street at 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Logan Square, Center City. Designed by Oskar Stonorov of Korman Co., the tower was completed in 1963 as an apartment building. In the mid=1980s it was converted into the Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, around the same time as the Embassy Suites at Philadelphia International Airport also opened with a similar design. The tower is now owned by Pearl Properties, which is also responsible for The Harper and 113-121 South 19th Street. The conversion was designed by DAS Architecture, and exterior renderings are provided by Gabe Lui Architectural Renderings.

In an encore to our Piazza Terminal tour last month, Philly YIMBY recently visited another property developed by Post Brothers, a nearly complete, 10-story, 285-unit residential complex dubbed The Poplar, located at 900 North 9th Street in Poplar, North Philadelphia. The factory loft has been standing since 1918, and a renovation has been in progress since the developer acquired the property in 2017. The renovation by Cosica Moos Architecture will yield luxury apartments and interiors, while the exterior now features a new shade of blue. The building also has expansive amenity spaces, including a roof deck that features swimming pools and an incredible view of the skyline. Floor Plans Revealed for Vine Street Apartments at 1201-09 Vine Street in Callowhill, North Philadelphia

New floor plans have been revealed for Vine Street Apartments, a 120-unit residential complex proposed at 1201-1209 Vine Street in Callowhill in Lower North Philadelphia. Designed by Cadre Design, the development will involve of the renovation and a two-story vertical extension of the six-story prewar Jarvis Building at 1209 Vine Street, as well as the addition of a ground-up, eight-story extension at the northwest corner of Vine Street and North 12th Street. The development team consists of Meritis Group as the owner, Equinox Management as the contractor, Cornerstone Consulting as the engineer, Macintosh Engineering as the structural engineer, and GNP Design Group as the MEP engineer.
