Looking at the Philadelphia Skyline from the Observatory Atop One Liberty Place

Philadelphia is home to several tall skyscrapers in Center City, with One Liberty Place among the most iconic in the group. The steel-framed tower rises at 1650 Market Street to a height of 945 feet and 61 stories above the ground. The skyscraper was designed by Helmut Jahn, who has unfortunately passed in May of last year, as part of the Liberty Place project developed by Rouse and Associates. At the moment, only two observatories operate in the city, as one has closed last year. Today we look at views from theh currently closed One Liberty Observation Deck, located on the 57th floor in the skyscraper’s gabled crown.

In Philadelphia, multiple major roadways lead to the bustling core of Center City, which sports most of the towers that make up the skyline. A number of bridges, including Benjamin Franklin Bridge, Betsy Ross Bridge, and the Delaware Memorial Bridge, surround the city, allowing motorists to cross the adjacent rivers. A Look at the Lobby of the Comcast Technology Center, Philadelphia’s Tallest Building

The Comcast Technology Center at 1800 Arch Street in Center City is both the tallest building and one of the largest structures in Philadelphia, standing 1,121 feet tall and spanning over 1.5 million square feet of interior space. Completed in 2017, the supertall stands 60 stories high and features office space on its lower floors and a hotel on its upper levels, with an observation deck at the top. The project was developed by Liberty Property Trust and designed by Foster and Partners, with Thornton Tomasetti behind the structural design and LF Driscoll as the contractor. Gensler crafted the exquisite and sometimes bizarre interior of the main lobby, with an architectural style well-suited for the modern workforce and the general public alike. The Philadelphia skyline has been significantly expanding for the past several years, making a drastic change to the look of the city. The construction boom started when the Comcast Technology Center was under construction in 2015, and since that time a great number of projects have been completed and are underway. Today we take a look at the new image of the skyline from the Live! Casino and Hotel, highlighting the projects that are currently under construction.

Construction Elevator Removed From Arthaus In Washington Square West, Center City

The construction elevator that was attached to the west facade has been completely removed off Arthaus, a skyscraper under construction at 311 South Broad Street in Washington Square West, Center City. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Philadelphia-based Dranoff Properties, the tower stands 542 feet and 47 stories above ground. Once completed, the building will offer 108 condominium units along with underground parking and retail on the ground floor.

One Cathedral Square Nearly Topped Out in Logan Square, Center City

The concrete structure is nearly topped out at One Cathedral Square, a 244-foot-tall, 23-story residential rising at 1701 Race Street in Logan Square, Center City, a block south of from the Vine Street Expressway. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Exeter Property Group, with the Hunter Roberts Construction Group as the contractor, the building is part of Cathedral Square, a block-spanning development that will also include the 470-foot-tall Two Cathedral Square tower.

Steel Assembly Continues Atop The Laurel Rittenhouse in Rittenhouse Square, Center City

The cross-braced steel parapet is being erected at the top of The Laurel Rittenhouse, a high-rise building under construction at 1911 Walnut Street in Rittenhouse Square, Center City. The tower is designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by the Southern Land Company, with Hunter Roberts Construction Group as the contractor and the Harman Group responsible for structural engineering. Located at just across the street from Rittenhouse Square Park, the tower now reaches the top of the parapet, rising 599 feet high and 48 stories tall. The development will feature 185 rental units and 60 luxury condominiums.

Facade Nearly Finished at Riverwalk South at 60 North 23rd Street in Center City West

Facade work is nearly finished at Riverwalk South, a skyscraper that is under construction at 60 North 23rd Street in Center City West. The main portion of the structure is currently topped out at 32 stories, and the building will soon reach its full height of 362 feet. Designed by Gensler and developed by the PMC Property Group, the building, which stands next to the Schuylkill River, is part of the two-towered Riverwalk complex. The development is part of a new hub of high-rise buildings that will soon form a cluster along Market Street and near the river, with most projects featuring residential programming. The two new towers symbolize the new high-rise growth that is destined to dominate the area in the near future.

Construction Reaches Halfway Point at the Thomas Jefferson Specialty Care Pavilion at 1101 Chestnut Street in Market East, Center City

Construction has been moving at a rapid pace on the skyscraper rising at 1101 Chestnut Street in Market East, Center City. The building, also known as the Thomas Jefferson Specialty Care Pavilion, is the latest addition to the expanding Jefferson Health campus in this section of the city. Designed by Ennead Architects and Stantec and developed by National Real Estate Development, the building currently stands at roughly the halfway point of its full height of 372 feet and 23 stories. The building is a part of East Market Phase 3, the latest expansion of the East Market complex.
