Crane Removal Underway at CHOP Hub for Clinical Collaboration in University City, West Philadelphia

The $4 billion Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia expansion is underway at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia, and one of the buildings within the project will soon complete construction. Designed by Perkins + Will, the CHOP Hub for Clinical Collaboration rises just to the south of the CHOP Buerger Center. The building rises 377 feet and 19 floors high.

Permits have been issued for a new multi-family development at 5303 Chester Avenue in Kingsessing,  West Philadelphia. Designed by Lo Design Co., the new building will rise three stories tall. Permits have been issued for the construction of a multi-family building at 650 North 38th Street in MantuaWest Philadelphia. Designed by KCA Design Associates, the new building will rise three stories tall and span 3,980 square feet, which will hold three apartments. A pilot house at the top of the structure will provide access to a roof deck, which will offer sweeping views of the nearby University City skyline. Construction costs are listed at $450,000 to build.

University Place 3.0 Tops Out in University City, West Philadelphia

Philadelphia’s construction boom of new medical and life-sciences facilities continues unabated, and another milestone has been reached earlier this month. Last week, University Place 3.0, an eight-story commercial and laboratory building under construction at 4101 Market Street in University City, has officially been topped out in an event celebrated with a ceremonial beam-raising and a series of speeches by prominent figures behind the project. Designed by the Sheward Partnership and jointly developed by Silverstein Properties, Cantor Fitzgerald, and University Place Associates, University Place 3.0 will offer 250,000 square feet of state-of-the-art Class A office and lab space, which will provide a significant boost to West Philadelphia’s rapidly-growing medical services industry, as well as ground-level retail space that will liven up the pedestrian experience.
