Renderings Revealed for Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Parking Garage at 3800 Powelton Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia

A recently submitted Civic Design Review document has revealed a series of new renderings and diagrams for the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center parking garage proposed at 3800 Powelton Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed and engineered by Pennoni (a coincidentally fitting firm name for a Penn Presbyterian Medical Center project) and THA Consulting, the structure will rise eight stories tall and will feature nine levels of parking, including rooftop space and will provide nearly 1,500 parking spaces, almost tripling the current amount of parking at the site. The project will feature ground-level retail facing Powelton Avenue and a new green space at the south end of the site.

Exterior Nearly Complete at Pavilion at 300 South 33rd Street in University City, West Philadelphia

Façade work is nearly complete at the Pavilion, a medical building at 300 South 33rd Street in University City. With 1.5 million square feet of interior space, the Pavilion is one of the largest structures in West Philadelphia. The structure rises 343 feet and 17 stories as one of the tallest buildings of Penn Medicine, which is the project developer. The building was designed by the renown architects Foster + Partners, which has done several notable buildings around the world, such as the Gherkin in London, the Hearst Tower in New York City, and the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. The structure replaces an older Penn Medicine building, a high-rise called Penn Tower.

CHOP Hub For Clinical Collaboration Receives Cladding in University City, West Philadelphia

Glass and stone cladding is being installed at the CHOP Hub for Clinical Collaboration at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia. The tower is about to reach its full height of 377 feet and 19 stories. Designed by Perkins+Will, the structure will feature over 550,000 square feet of floor space. The project is being developed by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which is developing a $4 billion master plan that the Hub for Clinical Collaboration is a part of.

Excavation Underway at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia

Excavation on the first Schuylkill Yards tower is underway at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City, West Philadelphia. Developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, the mixed-use building, also known as Schuylkill Yards West, will rise to a height of 361 feet and 28 stories, clad in glass and stone. The building is designed by the Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, which has also designed the red Schuylkill Yards tower that will stand to the west at 3001 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Once topped out, the tower will have a major presence on the skyline as the fourth tallest building in West Philadelphia.

Permits Issued for a Six-Unit Building at 1723 Memorial Avenue in Parkside, West Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for the construction of a six-unit multi-family residential development at 1723 Memorial Avenue in ParksideWest Philadelphia. The building will rise three stories tall, the same as the surrounding structures. The permit lists James Clancy as the design professional in charge with Fitler Development handling the contracting work. In total, the structure will hold 4,648 square feet of space and cost an estimated $250,000 to build.
