Permits have been issued for a five-story mixed-use structure with ground-floor commercial space and 21 residential units at 2046-50 Lehigh Avenue in East Kensington. The site sits between Frankford Avenue and Amber Street. The structure will be constructed on a footprint of 5,000 square feet and include 21,168 square feet of interior space. Seven bike spaces will be included for residents. Ambit Architecture is the project designer. Grit Construction is the contractor. Construction costs are estimated at $2.75 million.

Wawa Rolling Out New Drive-Thru Locations

Wawa, a major convenience store/gas station chain based outside of Media, a town in Greater Philadelphia’s western outskirts, is set to now offer new drive-thru locations. The recent changes in consumer interaction have led to a renaissance of limited-contact locations, pickups, and deliveries. Wawa has already introduced in-car and in store pickups, and addition of drive-thru is the next step for the company’s redevelopment strategy. Two locations, both located in the Philadelphia suburbs, will be the first to receive the amenity. One will be a drive-thru-only facility located adjacent to an existing store in the Morrisville section of Falls Township. Another will be added to an existing store in Westhampton, New Jersey.
