Permits have been filed for the construction of a three-story, 12-unit apartment building at 1616 North 54th Street in Hestonville, West Philadelphia. The structure will span 11,388 square feet and run a construction cost of $500,000. Another building is planned nearby at 1620-22 North 54th Street, which will include 11 low income senior housing units. The two buildings will hold a total of eight two-bedroom units and fifteen one-bedroom units. Omega Home Builders is the builder for both properties.

Master Plan Unveiled for Redevelopment of the Delaware River Waterfront in Chester, PA

The Riverfront Alliance Of Delaware County has unveiled an extensive master plan that will transform the waterfront of Chester, PA, a satellite city west of Philadelphia. The plan seeks to revitalize approximately 100 acres of waterfront by the Commodore Barry Bridge and Subaru Park, a stadium that is home to the Philadelphia Union, a Major League Soccer franchise. The park space ill come in addition to a large mixed use neighborhood designed by NBBJ.

Construction Timelines Announced for Three Schuylkill Yards Towers in University City, West Philadelphia

Construction timelines have been released for three skyscrapers that are a part of the Schuylkill Yards mega development in University City. The three buildings will range from 185 to 512 feet and from 14 to 34 floors.

Permits Filed for 1914-20 South 7th Street in Wharton, South Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for the renovation and one floor addition at 1914-20 South 7th Street between Hoffman and Dudley streets in the Wharton neighborhood in South Philadelphia. Plans call to renovate the interior of the structure with a commercial space on the first floor and 10 residential units above. With the addition of 4th floor, the building will position itself to be the tallest in the block. When completed, the building will have 11,658 square feet of space. Construction costs for the project are estimated at $1 million.

Construction Progresses on SEPTA’s Regional Rail Expansion in Middletown, Pennsylvania

After decades of service reductions to its regional rail system, SEPTA has embarked on a development program that seeks to revive some of the former rail services. One such project is the Wawa Station currently under construction in the Middletown Township, PA, reviving a part of a route that once ran from Philadelphia to West Chester until its discontinuation in September 1986. SEPTA plans to restore service on the Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line from its current terminus at Elwyn Station.

The development will replace a fenced-in parking lot formerly used by an auto repair shop. The site is situated at the corner of Aramingo Avenue and Fletcher Street, just off of Girard Avenue. Wood Capital Investments is the listed owner.

Alternately addressed as 2051-2077 Ridge Avenue, the filing calls for a total of 33,830 square feet of floor space, with ground-floor commercial space and 27 residential units above. Permits list Philadelphia Housing Authority as the owner and Ernest Bock & Sons INC as the contractor for the project.

Looking at Planned Waterfront Development Along Delaware Avenue

Delaware Avenue is a major thoroughfare running along the eponymous Delaware River (though certain sections feature different names). Large stretches of the street are either industrial, either presently or formerly, or largely suburban, with massive shopping centers and parking lots, though the city has long planned to transform it into a dense urban corridor. Now, these dreams appear on the verge of becoming a reality, with a large number of proposals planned for the avenue. A permit has been issued for the erection of a three-story, five-unit residential structure at 4107 West Girard Avenue in the neighborhood of Parkside, located in West Philadelphia. The address is currently home to a vacant lot between 41st Street and Leigh Avenue. A ride on the route 15 trolley provides an easy transfer to the Broad Street Line making for an easy commute to Center City.

Permits have been issued for 897 North 40th Street in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia. The proposal calls for a three-story, six-unit, sprinkled residential structure to rise at the site of an existing grass lot. The planned roof deck will offer sweeping views of the Philadelphia skyline. The permit also makes provisions for a covered walkway or sidewalk closure for the duration of the construction.
