Façade work is wrapping up at Wharton Flats, a four-story mixed-use project under construction at 1283 South 9th Street in Passyunk SquareSouth Philadelphia. Developed by Hightop Real Estate and Development, the project consists of 21 apartments, three townhomes, and a 5,400-square-foot commercial space. The building gained approval in June 2018, and construction began shortly after. The building stands across the street from Pat’s King of Steaks and down the block from Geno’s Steaks, two of Philadelphia’s most iconic cheesesteak restaurants.

Renderings have been revealed for a four-story, nine-townhome development at 2002-13 Abigail Street in Fishtown, Kensington. The homes feature two design variants, where the five at the northwest corner will include parking, while the four homes to the southeast will not. Catalyst City Development, the developer, is also in charge of the residential conversion of the historic Harbisons Dairy across the street, which YIMBY covered last October.

The project will offer ample retail space on the ground floor as well as 157 parking spaces for residents. The building is the northernmost component of the massive uCity Square development, and sits at a prominent location at the junction of Lancaster and Powelton avenues. A pedestrian promenade will run along the building rear.

Designed by Gnome Architects and developed by Zatos Investments, the 9,754-square-foot building will hold multiple balconies and roof decks and will cost an estimated $970,000 to build.
