Construction Progresses at Innovator Village in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia

Construction is making rapid progress at Innovator Village at 2401 Washington Avenue in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia. Upon completion, the development will hold 90 residential units, a mixture of townhomes, duplexes, quadplexes and apartments in a 56-unit mixed-use structure. When YIMBY reported on the development in December, groundbreaking was underway and the project began construction at its prominent location on Washington Avenue.

A permit has been issued for the construction of a three-story, three-unit residential building at 1312 North 6th Street in Ludlow, North Philadelphia. The structure will rise in place of a vacant lot on the west side of the block between West Thompson Street and Master Street and will span a 1,153-square-foot footprint. Robert Braun and Elizabeth Athena Braun are the listed owners. Construction is expected to cost $685,000.

Work Nearing Completion on The Hamilton in Franklintown, North Philadelphia

Construction work is nearing completion on The Hamilton at 1500 Hamilton Street in Franklintown, North Philadelphia. Designed by MY Architecture and developed by the Community College of Philadelphia and the Radnor Property Group, the 599-unit project consists of two phases. The first is a 10-story, 147-foot-tall building that has been complete for some time now. Over the summer work began on the second phase, which consists of a 16-story, 197-foot-tall tower, which YIMBY confirmed as topped-out in January.

The pair will replace a vacant lot situated on the east side of the block between Wyalusing Avenue and Girard Avenue. Each structure will span a footprint of 920 square feet. Permits have been issued for the construction of a multi-family building at 1507 Christian Street in Graduate Hospital, South Philadelphia. Designed by Gnome Architects and developed by Zatos Investments, the building will stand four stories tall and feature a roof deck. Five luxury condos will be situated within the project. The building will offer 6,168 square feet of space and cost an estimated $375,000 to build. YIMBY first shared the project with readers in January when a rendering was revealed.

A Look Back at How FMC Tower Elevated the West Philadelphia Skyline

The 736-foot-tall, 49-story FMC Tower at 2929 Walnut Street has stood as one of the tallest towers in Philadelphia since its completion in 2017, with a sharp design that elevates the University City skyline to new heights once seen as barely imaginable for the area. Along with Evo and Cira Green, the tower has given West Philadelphia a dramatic profile with eye-catching good designs. The abovementioned skyscrapers have the same designer, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, and all feature angled cuts. Developed by Brandywine Realty Trust, FMC Tower also displays distinctive curvy façades. Nighttime lighting with a red FMC logo topping the north and south faces adds an extra distinctive touch.
