Demolition Complete at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Garage in University City, West Philadelphia

Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit has confirmed that demolition work is complete at a 406-car multi-level garage at the northwest corner of Filbert and North 38th streets at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center campus at 3800 Powelton Avenue in University City, West Philadelphia. The demolition appears to be a part of an extensive overhaul of the medical campus, which includes the construction of a nine-story, 481,702-square-foot parking garage in the western section of the campus superblock, which was completed relatively recently.

Construction Still Not Started at Jefferson University Caroline Kimmel Biomedical Research Center in Washington Square West, Center City

A recent site visit by Philadelphia YIMBY has observed that neither demolition nor construction work has started at the 11-story Jefferson University Caroline Kimmel Biomedical Research Center proposed at 214 South 9th Street in Washington Square West in Center City. The structure will replace a multi-story garage on the northwest corner of South 9th and Locust streets. Designed by Payette, the structure will feature common areas on the lower levels and research labs on the floors above. A multi-story garage remains at the sit at the moment.

Permits Issued for 3114 North Broad Street near Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia

Permits have been issued for the construction of a three-story, six-unit residential building at 3351 North 19th Street in Nicetown-Tioga, North Philadelphia. The new building will replace a vacant lot situated on the west side of the block between West Clearfield Street and West Allegheny Avenue. Designed by JLS Architects, the structure will span 5,200 square feet. Permits list Smart Cents Construction as the contractor.

Construction Still Pending at 1101 Walnut Street in Midtown Village, Center City

Philadelphia YIMBY’s recent site visit has noted that construction has still not started at an 18-story, 198-unit high-rise proposed at 1101 Walnut Street in Midtown Village, Center City. Designed by JKRP Architects, the tower will span 138,150 square feet, with 4,420 square feet of retail space on the ground level and 6,281 square feet of office and amenities at the fourth floor. The project will also feature 34 off-site parking spaces and storage for 68 bicycles.

Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit has observed that construction is well underway at The Mark, a 34-story, 363-unit high-rise building at 3615 Chestnut Street in University City, West Philadelphia. The 414-foot-tall tower will rise from a through-block lot extending from Chestnut Street to the south and Ludlow Street to the north. Designed by the BKV Group and developed by Landmark Properties, the building will span 415,849 square feet and will feature extensive amenity space and parking for 70 cars and 96 bicycles.
