Permits have been issued for the construction of a three-story single-family residential building at 1931 South Juniper Street in East Passyunk Crossing, South Philadelphia. The new building will replace a vacant lot situated on the east side of the block between Mifflin Street and Passyunk Avenue, and will offer 1,500 square feet of interior space. Permits list a development team comprised of Mifflin Street LLC as the owner, Here’s The Plan, LLC as the architect, and AMT Construction as the contractor.
Construction permits have been issued for a three-story two-family development at 2239 North 16th Street in North Central Philadelphia, near Temple University. The new building will rise upon a vacant property sited at the east side of the block between West Susquehanna Avenue and West Dauphin Street. The structure will offer 3,080 square feet of interior space. Project features will include a cellar and a roof deck. The development team includes T&I Development as the owner, KCA Design Associates as the architect, and City Lights Electric LLC as the contractor.
Records within the City of Philadelphia planning department reveal that permits were recently issued for the construction of a three-story single-family rowhouse at 1929 East Harold Street in East Kensington. The new building will replace a vacant lot situated on the northeast side of the block between Jasper Street and Emerald Street. The development will span 1,151 square feet. The project is being developed by a team consisting of the Philadelphia Land Bank as the owner, Marshall Sabatini Architecture as the designer, and Urban Renewal Builders as the contractor.
In the 1980s, faced with mass demolitions and urban blight marring its storied streetscape, the city of Philadelphia responded with a sustained campaign of mural-painting. Over the course of the next half-century or son, the community, both mobilized into organizations such as Mural Arts Philadelphia and with the help of independent local artists, many of whom were virtuosos that sharpened their skills in the city’s budding graffiti scene, has wrought thousands of pieces of street art, earning the city the moniker of the “Mural Capital of the World.” Such works range from dazzling tour-de-force masterpieces stretching many stories high to humble art pieces that may be easy to overlook at first glance yet were nevertheless crafted with just as much love and care.
