Construction Nears Completion at 1901-19 East York Street in East Kensington

A recent site visit by Philadelphia YIMBY has confirmed that construction is nearly complete at a six-story, 127-unit development at 1901-19 East York Street in East Kensington. The new structure rises on the eastern corner of the intersection of East York and Jasper streets. Designed by LRK, the development will span 115,293 square feet and feature artist studio space on the ground floor. The complex will offer elevator service, balconies, a green roof, and parking for 27 cars. Permits list Equinox Management & Construction as the contractor and indicate a construction cost of $20.4 million.

Construction Still Pending at Jefferson University Caroline Kimmel Biomedical Research Center in Washington Square West, Center City

Philadelphia YIMBY’s recent site visit has noted that construction work has still not started at the 11-story Jefferson University Caroline Kimmel Biomedical Research Center proposed at 214 South 9th Street in Washington Square West in Center City. The structure will replace a multi-story garage on the northwest corner of South 9th and Locust streets. Designed by Payette, the structure will feature common areas on the lower levels and research labs on the floors above. Demolition work has not yet started, and a multi-story garage remains at the sit at the moment.

Renovation Underway at 1501 Fairmount Avenue in Fairmount, Lower North Philadelphia

As confirmed by Philly YIMBY’s recent site visit, renovation work appears to finally be underway as part of a construction project for a four-story, 20-unit vertical addition to a prewar Art Deco commercial building at 1501 Fairmount Avenue in Fairmount, Lower North Philadelphia. Designed by Harman Deutsch Ohler Architecture, the development will add 20,558 square feet of space to the existing building, boosting the total area to 26,025 square feet. The project, which is also known under the address of 1501-05 Fairmount Avenue, will feature 5,467 square feet of commercial space, elevator service, roof decks, parking for seven bicycles, and full sprinkling. Permits list Construct Design Corp. Inc. as the contractor and a construction cost of $2.7 million.
