The Durst Organization is proposing to replace a large parking lot at the Delaware River waterfront with a 290-foot, 24-story residential building at 300 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Center City. Handel Architects have crafted the structure as a wide, jagged slab facing its broad side toward the river. The development will rise three-quarters as high as the nearby, 385-foot-tall Benjamin Franklin Bridge and will bring much-needed activity to the long-neglected stretch of the waterfront.

A permit has been issued for the erection of a three-story, five-unit residential structure at 4107 West Girard Avenue in the neighborhood of Parkside, located in West Philadelphia. The address is currently home to a vacant lot between 41st Street and Leigh Avenue. A ride on the route 15 trolley provides an easy transfer to the Broad Street Line making for an easy commute to Center City.

Construction Anticipated for 327-Foot-Tall Residential Tower at 709 Chestnut Street in Market East, Center City

In 2015, the Mack-Cali Realty Corp. and Parkway Commercial Properties jointly proposed a high-rise apartment building at 709 Chestnut Street in Old City, a block west of Independence Hall. Two years later, Mack-Cali has left the development team and the building design has since changed. The latest iteration, designed by Edry McHenry Architects, is proposed to stand 327 feet and 27 stories tall, sporting 278 residential units. As of today, the proposal site consists of a still-active parking lot.
