Renderings have been revealed for a high-rise residential development at 1428-38 Callowhill Street in Callowhill. Designed by j2a Architects, the tower will rise 149 feet and 13 stories tall. The building will include 162 residential with off-street parking and 74 bicycle spaces.
The 20th Century was a key period for development in Philadelphia, with numerous remarkable structures built in the 100-year time period. At the very start of the century, City Hall was finishing construction in the heart of the city, with the William Penn Statue was topped on the structure six years beforehand. The 548-foot masonry structure was completed in 1901. Flashing forward to 1987, an even more massive monolith was finishing construction: One Liberty Place in Center City, which stands 945 feet tall. Designed by HDO Architecture, the building will rise four stories tall. The unit count was achieved via zoning bonuses coming from the project’s inclusion of low-income housing and a green roof. The project will include 23 bicycle stalls as well as an additional four more at the sidewalk.
