The last available parcel at Rittenhouse Square is making way for The Laurel Rittenhouse Square at 1911 Walnut Street. The 599-foot, 48-story rental  and condominium tower, designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by Southern Land Company, is one of the most exciting projects in the city with its massive height, on the rise to make a new mark on the growing skyline. It is currently the tallest building under construction in the city, with a projected height 17 feet above that of the W/Element Hotel that nears completion a few blocks east at 1441 Chestnut Street.

Zoning permits have been filed at 1939 Bainbridge Street in the Graduate Hospital (alternately Southwest Center City) in South Philadelphia. The proposed four-story building will be sandwiched in a row of homes near the corner of 20th Street, replacing a three-story prewar rowhome. The document describes the proposed building as a family dwelling with rear decks and a roof deck with an enclosed stair access tower. MCG Investments 1939 Bain is listed as the owner.

Riverwalk North Tower Tops Out Concrete, South Tower Now On Its Way Up

Riverwalk, two 300-foot-plus towers under construction at the Schuylkill River waterfront at 60 North 23rd Street and 2301 JFK Boulevard, are on their way to bulk up the skyline. Located at the corner of 23rd and Cherry streets, the Gensler-designed pair is working its way to completion as they extend the Center City skyline to the west 331 and 380 residential units in the two towers. Filling the visual gap between the PECO Building and the Cira Center complex across the river, the two towers sit on a split 3-story podium connected by an angled sky bridge. A major amount of space in the podium is leased by the supermarket company GIANT, a supermarket franchise, is set to lease 65,000 square feet, with an original opening date scheduled for fall 2020. Though no announcement has yet been made, the opening date may be pushed back.
