Another Schuylkill Yards Building Proposed At 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in University City

The Schuylkill Yards development is on the verge of breaking into the University City skyline in West Philadelphia. Permits for a new 361-foot, 28-story, mixed-use office and residential tower at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard were approved in early December 2019. The tower is one of many slated for the 14 acres of land just to the northwest of FMC Tower. A new park, Drexel Square, was completed last year just east of the Bulletin Building.

The earlier permit calls for the erection of a single-family household with a roof deck, an increasingly common feature in new construction in Philadelphia. A later permit outlined more technical details for the process, indicating intent for swift development progress. Standard Development LLC is the listed owner.

Curvy Tower Proposed at 2301 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Center City West

In 1889, a major project in Center City changed the way commuters had traveled all over the city. The project, Broad Street Station, included a large viaduct above the city streets with eight tracks and a shed leading to the street just to the west of City Hall. Since the project was demolished by 1953, the former site of the so-called “Chinese Wall” lead to many new developments that boosted the skyline, such as the Mellon Bank Center. Now, 2301 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a new office and residential tower planned to rise to 303 feet, will sit on one of the last available parcels at the former Chinese Wall.

Ever since 2016, word had circulated about the new Schuylkill Yards development in University City. Flash forward to 2019, two new developments for the district were finally, officially unveiled: a shorter building at 3025 John F. Kennedy Boulevard and the 512-foot 3001-John-F-Kennedy-Boulevard just a parcel to the east.

Permits Filed For Vertical Extension at Seven-Story Building at 330-48 North 12th Street

A zoning permit has been filed for a vertical extension atop a multi-story pre-war factory loft at at 330-48 North 12th Street (also known as 330-340 North 12th Street), just north of Center City in the up-and-coming Rail Park District in North Philadelphia. The three-story extension would rise above the lower, five-story wing of the sprawling, seven-story structure situated between North 12th Street to the east, Carlton Street to the south, and Callowhill Street to the north. The proposal is the latest addition to a rapidly-growing neighborhood around the elevated Rail Park, where an abandoned railroad turned into a public space has often been likened to Philadelphia’s answer to New York City’s ever-popular High Line.

Located near the corner of 12th and Carpenter Street, the new building will be an attached structure adjacent to the neighboring building to the east. The new building will also sit within a little over 10 minutes of a walking distance from the iconic Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks.

CHOP Adds 377-Foot Building at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard in University City

165 years ago, a man by the name of Francis West Lewis established one of the most famous and reliable hospitals in the world. Now, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has extended its space across many acres of University City in West Philadelphia. With many towers complete in the past recent years, another building has already started construction at 3501 Civic Center Boulevard, which will eventually rise 377 feet.
